SPSS License Code Installation: Windows
When installing SPSS for the First Time
Note: Entering the license authorization code is a separate process from installing SPSS. When installing, be sure to choose Site License in License Type, otherwise the license authorization process will not work.
After the main part of the SPSS installation is complete, you are given the option of launching the License Authorization Wizard. The License Authorization Wizard allows you to obtain a license for SPSS for Windows. It is strongly recommended that you launch the Wizard immediately after installation.
Running the SPSS License Authorization Wizard
If you did not run the wizard immediately after your new installation completed, or if you are updating the licensing for an existing SPSS installation, you can run the Wizard by:
-
From the Start menu, choose SPSS for Windows, then License Authorization Wizard.
Note: In order to run the License Authorization Wizard, you must be connected to the Internet. Any firewall software must either be temporarily disabled or directed to allow Internet connections from the Wizard. After authorization, you do not need to be connected to the Internet to run SPSS for Windows.
-
When prompted to choose an authorization method, select Internet and enter your License Authorization Code (LAC). The Wizard automatically retrieves your license from SPSS and permanently ties that license to your physical computer. At this point, you can reinstall SPSS 14 on the same computer multiple times using the same LAC, but you may not use the LAC on any other computer.
You can view the license by running "showlic.exe", which is located in the SPSS for Windows installation directory. Browse to this directory and double-click the file. You can then see the license expiration date and all of the add-on modules to which the license applies.
